Zoning
Main Street Hyannis is within the Hyannis Village Business Zone (HVB). (Hyannis Village Zoning Districts) The HVB district is designed for multi-use such as retail on the first floor and residential or office space on the second and third floors. There are exceptions to this, so one should check the zoning regulations carefully and check with the Building Commissioner’s office at 200 Main Street or 862.4038 early in your research.
The HVB district is one of 7 districts within the Growth Incentive Zone (GIZ)(Downtown Hyannis Zoning Map) , (see map.) The GIZ was designed for larger projects that would previously been referred to the Cape Cod Commission. That process is now in the hands of the Town Growth Management Department. You may call them for question at 508.862.4678.
All projects are subject to the Design and Infrastructure Plan (Design and Infrastructure Plan).
