FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – (HYANNIS, MA – September 8, 2022) Head on over to Hyannis Main Street on Sunday, September 18, from noon to 4 p.m. for some free entertainment, fresh air and fun. Hyannis Open Streets is closing the street to traffic and creating a safe, fun-filled place for people of all ages and abilities to stroll, cycle, or even skateboard through a multi-block outdoor festival. This free event offers a wide selection of music, so bring a chair and your dancing shoes! Cape Cod’s best entertainers will be there including Funktapuss, the Fred Clayton Blues Band, Jukin’ J & The Rockers, Doug Ricciardi & Jazz ‘til Dawn, Heyday with Kathleen Healy, Brendan Princi, Violin Viiv, and more. Everyone is invited to come and enjoy the music and to dance in the streets of Hyannis!

The Kid Zone on the Village Green will feature a giant open-air slide, and fun games for all. Throughout the street, you will find free face painting, live music, and Trevor the Juggler to entertain everyone. Stop by the Hyannis Public Library and pick up a free book as you stroll and enjoy the festivities. In the west end, take a free ride on the Roaming Railroad, a trackless train ride with a seat for the whole family as it loops around and back again. Climb aboard and explore the Hyannis Fire Department’s antique fire truck…plus so much more.

Restaurants and stores along Main Street will be open Sunday, so be sure to see what our locally owned businesses have to offer. Hyannis Open Streets is for people of all ages and abilities. It’s all about getting out and about and connecting with the community.

Plenty of free public parking is available on North Street, South Street and at the Hyannis Transportation Center.

Hyannis Open Streets is presented by the Greater Hyannis Civic Association with support from the Hyannis Main Street Business Improvement District, the Greater Hyannis Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Barnstable, along with other sponsors and donors. The rain date for September’s event is September 25 and for October’s event is October 23. In 2023, Hyannis Open Streets will be held on May 21 and again on October 22.
