GHCA to Host Second Public Forum on Performing Arts Center

The Greater Hyannis Civic Association invites the community to its second public forum on the Oceanside Performing Arts Center, to be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Resort and Conference Center in Hyannis.

“The civic association is doing this as a public service,” said GHCA President Deb Krau, who stressed that her organization has not taken a position on the performance center that may find a home on land behind the Resort and Conference Center. “We just want to provide a forum where people can learn about what’s being considered and have a chance to ask questions.”

The Nov. 10 event will open with presentations by the town’s planning and development director, Elizabeth Jenkins, and Cape Cod Commission Executive Director Kristi Senatori regarding the regulatory review process that would be followed with such a project. Krau stressed that no such proposal is before either the town’s boards or the Commission at this time. Questions from the floor will be entertained.

Then the dais will be reset for a presentation by representatives of OSPAC and the building and landscape architects selected for the project. That will be followed by ample time for questions from the audience. A full report of the proceedings will be posted on the GHCA’s website, www.greathyannis.com/

“We are providing an opportunity for people to get information we think they can’t get any other way,” Krau said. “I encourage everyone who’s interested to attend and ask questions.”
