Town Manager Mark Ells has announced the Town of Barnstable will work in collaboration with the Hyannis Main Street Business Improvement District (BID) and the Greater Hyannis Chamber of Commerce to host family friendly activities on Sunday, July 4th on the Hyannis Village Green and spanning across the mile-long Hyannis Main Street down to Hyannis Harbor.  Residents and visitors will be delighted as they walk along Main Street and enjoy the sights. Don’t forget your camera!  Be sure to use #hyannis4th and tag @townofbarnstable (Facebook/Instagram) or @BarnstableMA (Twitter) on your social networking posts.  There is no annual Hyannis 4th of July parade this year.

HYANNIS HARBOR & ASELTON PARK

Starting at 2:00 PM the traditional Hyannis Marina Boat Parade will take place in Hyannis Harbor.  Boats are invited to line up starting at 1:00 PM at the marina and the parade enters the Harbor at 2:00 PM where spectators will find interactive family activities taking place at Aselton Park from 2:00 PM-6:00 PM as they cheer on the boaters and enjoy the decorated vessels.

HYANNIS VILLAGE GREEN

The Hyannis Village Green will feature familiar family activities from 2:00 PM-8:00 PM including the Roaming Railway that loops around the Hyannis Village Green and Harbor Overlook brick pathway and Fun Zones with plenty of family friendly games.   The Cape Cod Moonlighters Big Band plays on the Bandstand from 5:30 PM-6:30 PM followed by the Cape Cod Ukelele Club and then special guests, Mamma’s Marmalade takes the stage at 7:00 PM.  Since their formation in 2014, the five piece string band has been fusing diverse musical backgrounds into a sound that bursts at the seams with energy, exuding a pure joy for creating music. Providing a window to the future of bluegrass while keeping the flavor of Americana and Rock n’ Roll alive, Mamma’s honest lyrics and warm, acoustic tones invite listeners back to a time when wooden instruments and sweet vocal harmonies captivated the hearts of America. Experimenting with intricate instrumentals and lively originals, their music brings the genre to new and unexpected places.  More info about the band can be found at http://www.mammasmarmalade.com/

MILE-LONG HYANNIS MAIN STREET

Starting at 4:00 PM Hyannis Main Street will come alive with activity as big puppets and revelry makers will be “Dancing in the Streets of Hyannis.” DJ stations and live musicians will be dotted along the mile-long pedestrian walkway and invite folks to dance along with them; enjoy the activities in the kids FunZone and encourage movement throughout the experience.
